215: Value Betting w/ 99?
Read is that he has been in far too many pots up until now and is quite loose pre-flop and after the flop.

What hands pay you off on the river? A8? 66? Is he loose enough to call here with an unimproved ace?

Re: 215: Value Betting w/ 99?
i wasn't trying to get the bet called so much as i knew that if i checked he'd bet regardless of what he held, so on the turn and river i put those blocking value bets out there to get out of this hand as cheap as possible
this would obviously not work against a skilled opponent, but that is not what i was facing here |

Re: 215: Value Betting w/ 99?
Why didn't you checkraise the flop (I would have) - was it in order to keep the pot small?
If so, this gives a free card to your opponent. What do you do if an overcard comes on the turn? Check-call again? In the actual hand, having check-called the flop, I like your block betting. |

Re: 215: Value Betting w/ 99?
Since he's betting anything on the river, I'd let him hang himself and re-evaluate (and probably call) after he bet. He's not going crazy with a naked Q, and anything better probably raises you on the river anyways. I think the river pretty much ensures he bluffs any two given your read, so why not take advantage of this? I don't like betting here, especially since if he pushes you'll have to fold getting really good odds (unless you can make this call given the read... but then you should still check).

Re: 215: Value Betting w/ 99?
ya plan was a check raise on the flop, but i thought he'd fold to this agression action for some reason...and i was fairly certain i was ahead
if more paint came off i'd have been far more likely to check/fold |
