Default gaming club table question

just out of curiosity:
how come sometimes to sit at a table you need a different odd amount then the usual lower even amount?

like a buy in of 144.25 instead of the usual 100

It's because you were at that table earlier and accumulated that much. You have to buy back in for the amount you got up with.
