Default Getting the \"Poker Rate\" For Vegas Casinos

I've read a lot in this forum about getting quoted a poker rate to stay at some of the Vegas casinos. As a test, I called the MGM the other day and they seemed to know very little about it (I remember reading somewhere that they were planning on instituting it, but it seems they have yet to do so). They transferred me from reservations to VIP to talk to the guy about it and he (pretty much) said he couldn't quote me a rate cause I wasn't a high-roller or someone who had stayed there in the past.

Anyway, my questions are as follows:
--For you regulars, what are the best places to try to get this rate?
--Does this rate only apply to higher limit games (I usually only play lower limits, up to 5-10 and 6-12)?
--I am traveling with my family (4 others, and we're planning on taking up two rooms total), none of whom play poker, so I'd be the only one playing. Can I still expect to get a discounted rate?

Any information would be much appreciated,

Thank you

I don't know much about places other than the Mirage and the Bellagio.

Just call the poker room and tell them you want to make a reservation. For your 1st trip they'll book you a room at the regular rate but tell you that if you play sufficient hours (normally 6 hours weekdays and 8 hours weekends) they'll give you the poker rate. It doesn't matter what limits you play.

When you arrive go into the office in the poker room, which in both places is right next to the cage, and they'll give you a card that you give to the brush (floorperson) when you sit down to play and they'll sign you in. Have them sign you out when you leave. On your last day go back into the office, show them the card with all of your hours, and if you played enough, they'll reduce your rate.

After a few trips, they'll just book you in at the poker rate and they won't need to track your play anymore. On my 1st stay at the Bellagio, my wife and I played enough hours that we never had to have our played tracked again.

I suppose that if you play 2x as many hours as you need, you might get 2 rooms at the reduced rate, but don't count on it.

I've also heard you can split the hours, if you have multiple people staying in a room. For instance, if I'm splitting the room with 3 buddies, and the 4 of us play for a couple hours each day, does that get us PokerRate?

I'm mostly looking into the Alladin rate. Anybody have any specifics or experience?

Thanks.

this depends on the room. some rooms let multiple people play out the hours for the dicount and some dont, the best thing is to just call the alladin and ask.

I'm staying at the Aladdin from 07/27 to 07/29, and I will be at the MGM from 07/29 to 08/01. I got an email from the Aladdin detailing the requirements for their rate. I hope this helps. If anyone is planning on being there during that time, drop me a PM.

ALADDIN RESERVATION RATES AND PROCEDURES

1) SUBMIT A RESERVATION REQUEST THROUGH THE POKER OFFICE

2) IF THE POKER RATE IS AVAILABLE, A CONFIRMATION CODE WILL BE ISSUED WITHIN 24 HOURS AND YOU WILL BE QUOTED THE REGULAR RATE, WHICH WILL BE THE RATE AT CHECK-IN.

3) IF THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS ARE MET, THE RATE WILL BE ADJUSTED PRIOR TO CHECKOUT, TO THE POKER RATE OF $79 SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY, AND $129 FRIDAY AND SATURDAY.

4) IF POSSIBLE, PLEASE NOTIFY POKER STAFF OF INTENDED CHECKOUT TIME, TO FACILITATE TIMELY ADJUSTMENT.

5) IF THE REQUIREMENTS ARE NOT MET, YOU WILL BE CHARGED THE REGULAR RATE ORIGINALLY QUOTED.

GUIDELINES

1) The minimum requirement to be eligible for poker room rates is six hours play, per day, per player.

2) For any day that the minimum time requirement is not met, room rate will be at the normal, non-discounted rate for that night.

3) Players may not combine hours to meet the minimum hourly requirement for poker room rates.

4) Players must confirm start and end times of rating period with floor manager

5) Tournament play does not count toward poker room rates.

6) Players MUST have a Club Aladdin player’s card, which will be set up at the time of reservation.

NOTE: Subject to availability, existing reservations, or current hotel guests MAY BE eligible for poker rates, provided they are not prepaid or booked through an agency/service (e.g., Expedia), and they have met the guidelines above.

If you would like to make a reservation online, please contact the poker office coordinator, Michele Jo Brod, at mbrod@aladdincasino.com and provide her with the following information:

First and last name
Mailing address
Phone number
Date of birth
Smoking or nonsmoking preference
One or two beds
Dates of stay
Credit card number and expiration date

Yeah, it's per room, per day. Usually you can combine the hours of persons staying in the same room.

One other thought ... I am staying at the Flamingo for the first time, so I get the normal rate first, to be adjusted later. They also told me my time playing at Bally's would count toward my minimum hours because the same group owns both hotels. With that in mind, I suspect that the hotels that are affliliated might let you do the same thing. Worth checking.

I called around and found out the following:
Bellagio - $129 weekdays, $199 Fri/Sat (booked through the middle of July) for 6 hrs/day/room.
Mandalay Bay - $115 weekdays, $189 Fri/Sat for 5 hrs/day/room.
Wynn - $129 weekdays, $199 Fri/Sat for 6 hrs/day/room.
Aladdin - $79 weekdays, $129 weekends for 6 hrs/day/room.
MGM Grand - $40 off whatever rate you booked it at for "4-5 hours/day/room".

I was able to get a pretty good deal at MGM (even before the discount) so I'll be staying there June 18-22. Looking forward to the new room, I've heard good things.
