Default Quick question

If you are mandated to do something good by someone with power over you should you be lauded for it? For example should chain gangs be praised for their service to the community when there are mearly carrying out the orders of a judge?

"I feed my kids!"

"You're supposed to feed your kids! What do you want? A cookie?"

Praise serves two purposes:

-Recognising achievement and respecting it.
-Rewarding positive behavior. In both adults and children praise provides incentive to continue doing good things. It also allows people to clarify what's expected.

Only the second applies in the case of chain gangs. While I agree only #1 are worthy of praise, it still provides a purpose in the case of #2.

In short, get over it
