Germany and poker tax?
I don’t know if this is the right forum or not, but I tried to choose the most appropriate for my question. The question is basically: Do you have to pay tax of your poker winnings in Germany?
I am currently located in a country in Europe which tax me 50%+ of my poker winnings, and I want to move…is Germany an option? Any other information on European country without poker tax is also greatly appreciated. cheers |

Re: Germany and poker tax?
From what i heard (and don't take this as cold hard facts) playing online poker is illegal in germany. If this is true perhaps it's not such a good choice.

Britain = no taxes. And hotter women [/ QUOTE ] I've heard this quoted so often but never seen any hard evidence for it. Anyone got any solid sources, or is it just word of mouth assumption? I just can't see that if it's your sole source of income that the Inland Revenue would possibly let it pass as untaxable. |

Re: Germany and poker tax?
Great link, many thanks for that. That's by far the most convincing discussion I've seen on the subject. I suppose that is about as good as it gets without consulting a tax accountant.

Re: Germany and poker tax?
Don't know about Germany, but I am moving to Austria soon and have found out that poker winnings are apparently not taxable there (a friend called the IRS equivalent direct for me).
