The book is really good...however Ciafonne's views on Limit holdem are quite arrogant as he belittles it as an inferior form of poker....

and this is not true?

Hi Born 2 Loose:

I read IYP a long time ago and don't remember the specifics as to exactly what Bob says about limit. However, he was someone who felt strongly that no limit was the game, and limit was just an inferior version of poker.

But that was years ago, and I suspect that his respect for limit hold 'em has gone up over the years.

Best wishes,
Mason

You call Ciaffone arrogant? He is one of the most gracious poker writers.

No...arrogant is the wrong word and I do regret using it. I was a bit tired when I wrote the reply....I love reading Ciafonne's articles and I have learned quite a bit from him...its just I found his views on limit poker in Improve Your Poker to be disagreeable. Its his opinion and I shouldn't judge for that...so i do apologize...especially if "the Coach" himself has read this thread.

Eh? I read this book too, I don't recall him ever saying limit was inferior. The only passage I recall comparing Limit vs NL was about the argument about which game required greater skill. He simply stated that it was a bad debate since NL gave the better play a greater edge. The chapter's intent seemed to be to inspire skillfull limit players to learn NL.

Hi Alex:

You're obviously not aware of some of Ciaffone's articles from years before IYP came out.

Best wishes,
Mason
