Default A Hand from last nights Stars $215

Slow play a set of queens or raise flop in this situation?

Thanks for the comments,
Jonathan

being a nit right now, but a set is when you have 2 in your hand, one on the board.
other than that i can't help much.

To me a bet of half your stack on the turn isn't all that strong of a reraise and if I'm villain and holding anything that matches the board I might look you up here with a call thinking just that. I would push the turn thinking that I'm most likely ahead and if villain has Q8 or QJ I'm going broke. Regardless, if he wants to see a river card with the possible draws on board he has to pay dearly.

Most would call it trips, and refer to a set if he held QQ and the flop came QTT.

a set is when you hold a pocket pair and the 3rd card comes up on the board

trips is when theres two of the cards on the board and you hold a 3rd in your hand.

very different

http://www.pokertips.org (go to poker glossary and you will find this definition)

Set
Also known as: Trips, Thee of a Kind.

A set means a three of a kind. Generally, people refer to a set when someone has a three of a kind because they have a pocket pair, with a board matching that rank of the pocket pair in hold'em. For example, if I hold 77 and the flop comes J76, I flopped a set of sevens.

noticed he says "generally" people refer to it as a set when they have pocket pair, but that it is defined as trips or 3 of a kind.

here, "generally", means "always and everyone who says set and means trips just makes it confusing for everyone else"

seriously say "set" on 2+2 and you will always mean pocket pair that hits on the board

Preflop, I'd raise 200, since I usually raise 3xBB + BB/limper. This is a tricky flop, but I think I'd raise since it's pretty well disguised. (Due to most people calling with their trips.) It's a pretty safe board, but I prefer to take it down here unless he holds a weak queen or gets too attached to his draw or pocket pair in which case you might get the rest of his chips anyways.

I think 600 would be a good sized raise, but I could see smaller or larger debatable. (Even a push.) If he has Q8 (impossible?) or 88, that sucks but you still have three outs. I don't think you're getting away from this regardless.

Anyways, any read on the villain?
