I believe it goes to the first person to the left of the dealer button.

Huh?

Worst position IE first guy to the left of the dealer button which happens to be the same thing. For instance there are 8 players. Let's say 8 is the dealer, 1 is first position, 2 and 7 split the pot, if there is extra chip to split, 2 gets it. IE the lower number gets IE, the player in the worst position. wow, this is brain surgery.

Got it that makes a lot more sense. For some reason I was reading clockwise but thinking counter clockwise. My mother is a whore.

the guy who's high card is of the highest ranked suit (spades hearts diamonds clubs) or just leave it in for the next pot

we leave it in the pot also, seems to make everyone happy, and it actually seems to stimulate action on the next hand. Don't know why people are eager to get in the pot for that one extra $10 chip, but it does.

It's always to the player with worst position. That's the rules.

This is the rule. Why are people arguing about it? Of course a house game can change any rule they want and that is fine, but "worst position gets the chip" is always the standard rule.

In our home game we either leave it in the middle or draw high card gets it. Most people like the second way as it's 50/50 for "their" chip

In high/low games I've always played that it goes to the high hand. Of course, the real thing to do is just decide which way you like best, and make sure everyone knows the rule before you start playing. Making all of your house rules clear from the very begining solves so many problems.

At my home game, since it's a friendly game, I give the extra chip to the person w/ the better hand preflop; i.e. AJ gets it vs. A2 on a A88Q4 board... If the hand is the same, I'll give it to the suited hand, and if it's exactly the same, I give it to the person closet to the dealer.

have a nice day,

I am a dealer, and the rules are that the extra chip goes to the first of the left of the dealer, but if it is a high-low split pot game, the extra chip always goes to the high hand. Also, if there are several pots, like a side pot, then you split each one individually, rather than put them together. Sometimes you end up giving one player 2 or more extra chips, one from each pot. Also, if ay two people split a low hand, and one takes the high, you chop the pot, give the extra chip to the high hand, and then chop the rest of the pot, and give that extra chip to position.
