I've been trying to find where Hellmuth stands, is he still in it? I causually scrolled through the chip standings but couldn't find him. Any idea? Is he out?

[/ QUOTE ]

Hellmuth out in day one : Hellmuth's A-Q ran into Paul Maigrel's 7-7. He muttered to BJ, "That's the worst hour of poker I have ever seen in my life!"

From Gutshot, Gus pushes with 99, player with JJ calls, board doesn't help either player.

I was surprised to learn that Gus was still in it because I saw him at the Bellagio playing in the big-game until 1a or 2a last night (with Chan and Chia Xiang and one or two others who I didn't recognize).

I would think that ANYONE playing in day 2 would sack-out a little earlier...but I guess this stuff is all old-hat for these guys pretty much.
Maybe the other players in the game were to fishy for him to leave or maybe he had already slept and then decided to head down because he was up anyway. No idea.
Just thought it was interesting that someone would play relatively late the night before day 2 of the WSOP.

It would also explain why he pushed 1st hand in, I think he had that "I gotta go" feeling you see in online tournaments when players go allin.

About 940, about 20 minutes to go before dinner break, then 2 2-hour levels left for today.

This is Card Player reporting it, they could've missed some details. It does seem strange he would put in his stack with only an overpair and a 10 high flush draw.

Not strange at all for his aggressive style, and his thoughts of what other people may have to combat his aggressive style.
