Interesting ideas and approach, Harv. How long have you been using it? I guess it's working for you since you've posted it.

I like it Harv.

This is really good for people with large mined databases. But for people who don't, Bisons is probably still more convenient as I would imagine it can take a large number of hands for W$SD to settle.

I hope this is true. The last 2500 hands i have a W$SD% of about 48
I dont datamine while im not playing, but i dont have any players with this many hands yet in my database and even if i did that number isnt neccesarily accurate.

I think the concept is great but u reall y need quite a few hands on people to take into account W$SD% which would make it harder to apply practically.

Excellent work, thanks for it!

How many hands would I need on a guy for these rules to be reliable?

I honestly couldn't tell you, beyond more hands than it takes with Bisonbison's rules.

I think that you should start to produce meaningful numbers after around 50 showdowns for a mediocre player. Not nearly precise numbers, but enough to get a general idea of tendencies. For a really bad calling station or weak/tightie, less than that.

EDIT: For a player seeing 25% of flops and going to showdown 33% of those, this would be 600 hands.

If one of the resident math whizzes wants to take a shot at this one, please feel free.

Errg, I really need to mine more. I think I use the default PT rules to autorate, but I think I agree with the previous posters who argue that simply looking at the raw statistics is better than relying on an icon.

FWIW, could someone tell me why autorate was so much more advantageous before the HUDs came out. I mean, did you actually have to find them in your DB?

One thing i noticed is the PFR# is 8%. I rarely see many players beside maniacs above 8%. Very few players are above this # in my experience

I don't know how I missed this post but I'm glad I caught it. I was just wondering who has replaced the bison ratings with the harv ratings? Essentially, I want to know player view nielsen ratings, for those who have tried both.

Really, really good stuff.
