Besides, if you're interested in that, Jennifer Tilly already demonstrated that a female non-pro can win a WSOP bracelet. All you have to do is date Phil Laak.

[/ QUOTE ]

What a post is this?
Tilly won an event for women only.
Nobody but a lady can win it.
Each year, one lady will won a WSOP bracelet.
Annie Duke choose not to play there to just show she can compete with men.

If this stuff about having the clock called on her dozens of times is true. I know that I would go insane playing at her table. A surefire advantage for her in any case.

I believe one of the reports called her a one-woman rain delay.

lol i think annie duke is far beyond proving herself as a female player, she is a poker professional. the ladies only even was what...a $500 buy in? i believe most of the female poker pros opted to play in a $2000 buy-in PLO event, a better looking payday and certainly more respect for a bracelet win in that event.

The 2005 ME winner will be an unknown. Just like Chrismoneymaker and Raymer.
This is good for the poker.
It shows anyone can be a celebrity overnight.
And get rich along the way.

I suspect more than you think...

Or, people who primarily only played 'home games' will venture into card rooms or the online world.

Don't get this....the UK has a substantial population...I suspect a win by a black UK woman would do wonders for the female poker demographic ESPECIALLY in the UK, but everywhere else as well...

You are forgetting that both Annie Duke and Cyndy Violette won bracelets last year. And I think Kathy Liebert might have too. Didn't feel like checking - the point is that women HAVE won bracelets, and not because they're dating Phil Laak, and NOT because they were in the all-women's event.

Annie Duke specifically passed on the Ladies event to play the event that she ended up winning.

BTW - Phil Laak said he has no idea where Tilly learned to play poker, implying that he didn't teach her.

[/ QUOTE ]

Those were in Omaha /8 and other crap games that nobody cares about in really small fields.. Bracelets like that shouldn't even be counted....
