Default What is it with Magic and Holdem?

I find it odd that a lot of former magicians are now top ranked holdem players. I don't know how the 2 go together

Both are card games with a lot of strategy.

Exactly. Both require stategy, thinking many turns ahead, bluffing, and thinking what your opponet might hold and the odds that you're going to get a winning card (outs).

It's no surprise that top magic/chess/backgammon players are also very good at poker. To them, poker is a step down to the games they use to play.

He's talking about card trick kind of "magic" and not MTG.

No one who plays MTG refers to themselves as a magician so either this guy is clueless or hes talking about magicians like Antonio Esfandiari

No I think OP's talking about MTG here. That is unless I missed a wave of street magicians taking over the tables.

If he means MTG, maybe it's because the kind of person who does well sitting at the computer for 8 hours a day playing poker is the same kind of internet geek who would be drawn to playing MTG.

If he's talking about magicians... I don't know where he's coming from?

Nevermind the large element of strategy involved in MTG, there can't possibly be a link.
