Re: Shortanded, versus a near-LAG and K high, yee haw!
Do you think K high wins 1 in 5, even if he's bluffing? Fold it up and move on.

Re: Shortanded, versus a near-LAG and K high, yee haw!
You failed to mention his went to showdown %. If it was 30-40% or lower, I would've bet the turn and taken the free showdown. Less than 30, and I would've bet the river, too.
Since he was a LAG, though, I'm going to assume that he had a higher than 40% WtSD. I think you played it fine, he plays so many trash hands that there's a good chance he paired up. I'm not sure if this is worth calling with king high getting 5:1. |

I would've also bet the turn. However, I just wanted to point out this post about 2 common PT misunderstandings. Perhaps you already know about it in which case never mind. One of them concerns AF with a high VPIP player and it really opened my eyes as to how I look at this stat especially when playing against this type of player.

I'd bet the turn, and check behind on the river/fold to a river bet.

Re: Shortanded, versus a near-LAG and K high, yee haw!
I actually like this a lot, and is the line I take with a missed big ace or king against a LAG. We have the best hand easily 1:5 times here. Betting the turn leaves us open to a check raise where we could be very well folding the best hand. Plus we hope to induce a bluff checking the turn so I think we have to call the river.
Against passive opponents I like betting the turn, as we can fold to a c/r or river donk, and take a free showdown UI. |
