Re: Why\'d they design Poker Superstars to be such a huge allin fest?
[ QUOTE ]
They did have to go through 24 matches the first 3 days, the only real way to do that was to have a superfast structure... [/ QUOTE ] I agree completely, and I'm sure all the players went into this knowing this is how the first round was gonna be. It's a nice way to start it and I'm sure they will have it all worked out next year or the year after. Let's just see how the rest of it goes...maybe it'll take a 180 and actually become really good to watch. |

[ QUOTE ] They have the current structure so matches will not last a long so studio/production costs are less. [/ QUOTE ] I completely disagree. [/ QUOTE ] me too |

Well, that's what Dan N. said on his site. I have no first hand knowledge.

Re: Why\'d they design Poker Superstars to be such a huge allin fest?

I really like the overall format a lot. But, each individual round sucks. I'd rather see poker's elite actually play some real poker rather than calculate if calling all in with Q8s is correct because of your stack size and huge blinds. [/ QUOTE ] I would too. As a showcase for these Poker Personalities it makes for good TV though. Also, I think the Players value the media coverage they are getting. PairTheBoard |

Re: Why\'d they design Poker Superstars to be such a huge allin fest?
i watched every episode of the first season and really thought that this event was great for poker. ive watched a couple of the new ones and for me they are more about gaining some knowledge about the personalities of players rather than learning about strategic content.
in conclusion, i hate the new ones and dont watch these allin crap fests anymore. |

Is there a new PSI2 sucks topic every week?
Yes, it blows. So does most poker on TV, save the occasional WPT, Poker at the Plaza, the one at Turning Stone, and maybe a handful of others. |

Re: Why\'d they design Poker Superstars to be such a huge allin fest?
[ QUOTE ]
In an interview after one session Doyle said that he and the other players love the format. [/ QUOTE ] this is absolutely correct, and the reason they love it is exactly the escalating blinds. this tourney has; 1. action 2. different (fun) 3. action anyone of that group that wants this to play traditionally is not a true action junkie, and i present as fact that the greatest card players past, present and future are ALL said junkies deep down.. this format is a direct route like the femoral vein. |

Im pretty sure Greenstein was one of the main designers of the format. [/ QUOTE ] Not true. The only thing that Greenstein implemented was the clock that costs players an SB penalty if they take too long on a decision. You can see Kathy Liebert bitching about this on one of the early episodes. |
