Re: Your thoughts on this check-raise.
I think I check/call this river. A made draw raises and a missed draw folds. The only reason to bet is if you think you can get a 9 to fold (which I doubt at this point).

Re: Your thoughts on this check-raise.
[ QUOTE ]
1) It helps that the preflop raiser is passive. And that the button is aggressive postflop. 2) I hope to limit the field. If I am behind - at least I have a couple lame b/d draws to help out. 3) If the preflop raiser had gone ahead and bet it and there was a call ahead of me - I suck in those situations. ---------------------------------------------------------- [/ QUOTE ] That's what I thought. In that case I like the check raise, since you had good evidence it would work like it did. As for the river, that's tough, what a terrible card to fall. Flush, or OESD just made it. I don't think we get him to fold a weak 9 often enough. We'd get called by a pair of 5's maybe, pocket sixes or sevens maybe. I'd probably bet it but I think it's got to be somewhat close, maybe minus EV. |

Re: Your thoughts on this check-raise.
i think it worked out well, but I think you got lucky with the button bet. However, I do not see any other way to play it. My initial thoughts were to lead and let UTG raise and thin the field but he is so passive that if he raises you're behind an overpair. I think checking to see what happens and c/r the late position bet here was a great result.
