Default limit?

seems the Big Game at the Bellagio, or any big game I've ever heard of, is always played limit... with the influx of NLH on TV, how come none of the whales wanna play NL and the biggest poker games are still always played limit? or are there super-big NL games out there?

the game does change to no-limit during certain games (PL omaha, NL hold em, and one other like 2-7 lowball), and when it does, the maximum anyone can lose on one hand is 100,000, so it goes to show that even the pros want ot have a control on things

The prose do it bc they would be at a disadvantage if a billionaire rolled in and tried to break them.

Variance. Its why Beal thinks he has a shot. And thats just limit.

Default max-pot size?

yeah, this entry in Negreanu's poker blog (link below) mentions a 4k/8k (limit) game with 100k capped pots... that just seems weird to me, especially capping the pot at only 12.5 big bets, given how aggressive that game is supposed to be... does anyone know how this works? is it like bet, call, and now we deal out all the remaining streets to see who wins?

Beal is also pretty good at heads up texas hold'em.

the 100k cap is for big bet games, which they play with a 50BB (!) structure.
