Would it be EV+ to wear a WSOP bracelet to a $500 tournament?
Let's suppose you had one. It would probably have some intimidation value. However, it would also give people information about you and cause them to pay attention to your play.

Wearing a clown suit is way more +EV IMHO.

I experienced this a few days ago at Foxwoods. He was the first to bust from our table (within 2 hours in a limit HE tourney).
We were not impressed. |

Heck no.
When i was in Paris for the WPT the two worst players I encountered had bracelets (egyptian guy who won rebuy tourney and american dude who won PL tourney). It completely depends who wore it. If it was an unknown with a bracelet it would not scare me at all. |

Re: Would it be EV+ to wear a WSOP bracelet to a $500 tournament?
I played a $200 single-table satellite (for entry-chips) at the WSOP-circuit Tunica with a bracelet winner.
It was the Brian Wilson guy who won the PL-Holdem event (I think). The guy who was wearing a bright Hawaiian type shirt at first...and later was wearing a Chicago Cubs jersey. He was sitting next to me and drinking a beer and talking REALLY loud. When we got to about 6 or 7 players left somebody noticed his bracelet. I hadn't even seen it. He showed his bracelet to those who asked (don't think he took it off though...just held up his wrist close enough for them to check it out). and he started talking about his win and that it would air on ESPN on Sept 13 (it did). Anyway...I asked him about playing in some $200 satellite...because I figured he won around $200k-$300k to win a bracelet. He said the satellites in Vegas during the WSOP were very profitable for him (above and beyond his bracelet win) and he likes to play them. (fwiw - they were very profitable for me too so I was giving his 'excuse' for playing so low a bit of merit). Wilson busted out about 6th or 5th in our satellite though. And then went racing off to play in another sat. |

Supposedly he won a PLO8 tourney this year at the WSOP. Matt Matros was also at the table, and he didnt know the guy either.

I don't know if it would work in a $500-tournament, but I played a live cashgame yesterday where all the other players knew that I was much better than them, and I noticed that it made them scared to bet, raise or bluff when I was still in the hand.
