In my experience this is often a cheap ploy at getting you to raise so they can put the most money in when they have the best hand.

If people did this more to me in NLHE theyd make a lot of money because I beat on minbettors (dubminbettors) way too often.

Yeah, but you can't do it in Omaha (especially on loose tables) because normally at least one person is peddalling a nut or near-nut hand.
