Default basic questions from a noob to online

How exactly does a rakeback work? I think I understand the concept, but do I have any financial obligation to the site I sign up with?

I am strictly a recreational player...maybe play 200-300 hands a week online. Is there any reason I shouldn't sign up for rakeback, or am I passing on free money here. Thanks in advance for all help.

you are passing on free money... there is no financial obligation.... read the sticy of affiliates/rakeback directory and contact a few of them, try to find yourself the best deal.

Basically rakeback is free money. Basically how you are recieving it is that you are signing up under an affiliate of the poker site. This affiliate is paid a % of the rake you generate as an incentive for finding players. This affiliate then passes on most of that % to you the player.

I hope that helps you.
