Betting the turn probably works better than calling a river bluff.

I'm kind of a noob, so if this analysis is way off, please let me know.

Doesn't his line say to you that he has a mid-sized pocket pair (5-5 to 10-10). If this is right, then there is really no bluff to snap off. Even if he has a pair of dueces you are beat. If you are saying that you want to bluff with your AK, okay, but you can't really snap off a bluff, can you? Help me see what I'm missing.

Thanks

This looks like a good (but not great) time for a delayed bluff. I like the fact that the pot is relatively small. Bluff the turn, and in this case bluff the river if your turn bet is called. If your bluff is snapped off you can show the bitch what an idiot you were cold bluffing with nothing.

I bet turn to put him on the backfoot with a mid pair.

With only having 1K each, this river decision is much more difficult. My gut reaction was to make it 300 to go on the river vs. calling and folding to a reraise/push. But then I realized that would be committing almost 40% of your stack on this hand which I am not thrilled about, esp if he makes you fold. Therefore I think I agree that he most likely has a medium PP and I would most likely fold.
