Don't I want to bet the flop and have CO raise SB out of the pot with his overcards?

CR doesn't seem to accomplish much.

Or should I just 3bet preflop and take control?

Preflop: Hero is BB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
2 folds, CO raises, 1 fold, SB calls, Hero calls.

Flop: (6 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets...

I would have 3 bet preflop.

The way you played it I like the donk but do you have any reason to believe the CO is going to raise just overcards. Him just calling would be bad since it gives SB more incentative to stay in.

Bet, call the raise, re-evaluate on the turn.

Bad flop lead. You need to checkraise this.

If CO raises you on the flop it is because he has a better hand or overcards. If he has overcards then you actually want the SB to call his raise with overcards because they likely share outs, so the SB will normally only have 3 additional outs versus you.

So, checkraise this flop. You will often get 2 bets out of 2 players and your checkraise will look pretty strong. They will often fold incorrectly to your turn bet when they do have overcards.

I play fairly short sessions out of necessity. It takes a while to establish a read. Therefore, I often don't have any that are meaningful beyond the typical 35/8/1.2 type.

FWIW, I 3bet every time when the SB folds.
