Default Rolled Up Hands

This is something random I have been thinking about a little bit and wanted some opinions on it.

I believe that smaller rolled hands can be played for more value then bigger ones but have greater increased variance.

Basically if you have 444 you can be a lot more agressive before people slow down then when you have AAA. Some of the biggest pots I have won were when I was rolled as the bring - in.

The increased variance of course comes from the increased chance of your rolled hand being counterfeited.

Agree? Disagree? Not Interesting?

Agree. Unless of course you're rolled up at the same time as someone else.

I strongly agree. Low rolled up trips in stud are almost the same, if not, exactly like playing low pocket pairs that hit a set on the flop in hold'em. They are very decieving in both games and have lots of potential to win a lot of money. And, like you said, it' s harder to win big pots with high rolled up hands because, people will slow down.

People slowing down a little doesn't cut into your overall win rate with a hand as much as losing more often does, so my intuition is that big rolled hands still make a bit more than small rolled hands. Of course it's pretty immaterial, you love any rolled hand.

However, this is the real reason why you should play small rolled hands fast; not because they lose more and "need to be protected" but because they get more action while still ahead.

agreed. and 444 is easier to throw away than KKK when you're beat.
