Default Washington Post Poker Players/Tax/IRS Article...

I think this is the right place....today's washington post had an article on Taxes....thought it might be relevant with all the questions that have come up recently. I can't seem to link it without a login. I'm sure someone's figured this out, but it's in the business section.

But just because the payer doesn't report the income doesn't mean the gambler doesn't have to, Kelson cautioned. He said he has found the IRS increasingly doing "root canal" audits in which the taxpayer is required to account for every bank deposit. These and other tactics can enable the IRS "to stumble over your gambling winnings," he said.

My long-term financial plan is if I ever get a letter saying I'm scheduled for an audit, I'll just flee the country and never come back.

Thank god online poker is illegal....or not legal....not sanctioned actually. Whatever term we're at now...

...actually...this makes me wonder what's being done to crack down on the taxation of the sale of illegal drugs.

Thank god they have time and money to devote towards internet poker players.
