While calling is not a huge mistake like you say, it is the worst of the 3 options.

Not trying to be a jerk here, but you really need to keep your mind open to different schools of thought.

I agree. But calling is still a major mistake.

in a nice passive game (3/6 or lower) where a raise from the button or blinds is unlikely, i don't see anything wrong with limping here. this is provided you play better than your opponents postflop, however.

Fine - worst of three options, but "horrible mistake"?

Wouldn't not raising AA preflop be considered a "major mistake"?

How about calling with 27o UTG? Is that a "major mistake" too?

Just trying to play devil's advocate here. Looks like the option to fold or call is pretty close in the poll, both leading the option to raise. I can see reasons for doing all three ...

I think the "no reads" is the problem in this post. I think if you would have given us a weak limper and tighter blinds, the decision would be practically unanimous to raise.

Otherwise, you have the "sass" factor.

Even if you have no reads, you can tell us whether this is online or ftf and what the stakes are. It matters.

i look for reasons to raise (loose limper, tight blinds, my current image). if i don't have enough reasons, i fold.

calling here would be a crime against humanity which would have to be punished by being drawn and quartered by 4 teams of angry squirrels each led by a chipmunk of an indeterminate disposition.
