Default Top Pair On A Low Board

47/12 Table.
SB - 60/5
MP - 30/10

I know that I should bet right out on the flop here but what card could possibly come that I would like aside from a K or 6? I basically forfeited the pot by wanting to check it down. Is this just a bet the flop and turn... fold to a raise sort of play?

Party Poker (6 max, 6 handed)

Preflop: Hero is BB with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
1 fold, MP checks, 2 folds, Hero checks.

Flop: 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, MP checks.

Turn: 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, SB folds.

River: J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, MP checks.

Final Pot:

I wouldn't bet, or call a bet with without improving 1st.

This is ridiculous. BET THE FLOP. It makes me cry that you won't bet this.

Bet the flop and hope the more tight player folds. You might even win the pot outright.

Anyways, bet the flop. Bet the turn and fold to a raise (unless the 30% player is tricky--then call down).

This is a 3-handed all-small flop. Pairs are hard to get. Don't ever forget that.

Bet the flop with any pair, any four, and probably any ace or six. Shorthanded poker is not for passive people. I'd rather be a 60/30 LAG than a 20/10 who goes around checking flops like this.

I'm completely serious. You cannot do this. You will be eaten alive.

They don't have all these cards. They typically have 3, 5, or 6 outs each. Plus of course you have outs too if you need them.

It's a paradox that many otherwise sensible micro players believe both of the following:

1. It's wrong to call a bet on this flop with Q9o getting 4-1 pot odds.

2. It's wrong to bet this flop with a small pair because some nitwit will probably call with a 6-outer like Q9o.

You cannot have it both ways. You cannot be folding Q9 because he might have a pair and then turn around and waste your pairs because he might call with Q9. That doesn't make any sense.

Play a hand like K5 strongly and you'll make money off him when he insists on calling with overcards. Especially since sometimes his Q9 is actually K9 and three of his outs are dead. Or maybe they both call with Q9 and QT and their twelve combined outs are really only eight.

You need to fix the op, the action is all messed up.

Checking isn't action. There is no action in this hand.
