Default Did you sit next to this guy at Commerce?

I read my SF Valley Daily News this AM to find a front page article on capture of Old Man bandit, who might also be the Fedora bandit. A Mr. Sykes, aged 57 or so was arrested AT THE COMMERCE CASINO Thursday. He was wanted for over 20 bank robberies to support his GAMBLING HABIT. DUH!!!

While an FBI agent was at the casino passing out flyers to security personnel he spots the guy sitting at a table playing!!! They lure him to a private room and arrest him!!!!

Do any of the Commerce denizens who are posters have any more local color on this guy? You too could have taken pots from a bank robber! Obviously, he was a LOSER!! So which one of us has the bank robbers $$$$$$????!!!! ROFL!

Would love to see a picture of him. He probably has jackpot fever and as he was hauled away, he hollered at the dealer, "Deal me in!". Here's more on the story.

Default Armed Old Man Bandit update

Paid my first visit to Commerce since this story came out about the "alleged" bank robber being arrested in the casino. I asked every dealer what he or she knew about the guy. Here are some quotes from the dealers:

1) The guy was a "regular." And in the casino nearly everyday.
2) The guy played 1/2 and 2/4 (and other limits according to some).
3) He was a nice guy, a "good tipper" and "never stiffed the dealer."
4) According to one patron, the guy worked part time at his company and made $30/hr.

I have not been able to locate a picture of the guy just to see if I have played at his table.

But the dealers had NOTHING but NICE things to say about a guy that apparently had a BIG BAD DARK SIDE that included bank robbery with bomb threats, bad language, guns and threats of personal violence.

And meanwhile, the casinos just quietly go ahead and take rakes from people with these kinds of problems. What a trainwreck. I just can't not look.

Ever notice on the local news, when they're interviewing the neighbors of a guy busted for killing 6 family members, 18 at work and 4 at the church he attended regularly (and taught a Bible study class), they always seem to say, "He always kept his yard so neat. Always smiling and saying hello."
