Default Doom 3 review

It sucks.

The graphics are great, but if there is no gameplay, what's the point? My computer is no supercomputer, but even on lowest quality the game was a slideshow, especially during intense battle scenes. I bought XIII (released last year) this past weekend, and THAT, friends, is a fun FPS.

Anyway, I guess in the future when they can turn hydrogen into a reliable fuel source, they can't afford to pay their electricity bills. Here is a link to a review that quite frankly, I could not have said better myself: http://www.somethingawful.com/articles.php?a=2304

I enjoyed it a lot, but I literally haven't played an FPS since Doom II, so it was all new to me. Sorta..

It runs fine on ultra quality on my computer and I'm loving the game. Multiplayer is a blast. Maybe because there are so many noobs playing that it makes me look good. Single player was fun too. Nothing innovative or revolutionary, it's the same as every most other fps, but better.

I have been planning on getting it this week, but the poor reviews have helped me change my mind. It really sounds terrible. It gets an 8.5 here but the entire article is negative about the gameplay. Oh well, I still have Far Cry to finish, now that is one great game.

I read it only supports 4 players though?!
As an ex hardcore Quake 2 Deathmatcher/Teamplayer I cannot imagine that would be anything other than horrible.
You need a good 10-12 people running around a map before it gets real fun I find.

I've never played Quake2 but I am a big fan of Unreal Tournament and that game would suck with only 4 players. Doom3 plays different though. I've played a few servers with a 16 player mod and it just sucks. The game doesn't feel right with that many people. I don't know why -- maybe the lighting, the size of the maps, the effect of the weapons -- but it's a lot more fun with people <= 4

I guess you're used to using flashlights constantly. Lot of tornados and power outages where you're from?
