He has been consistently above average for 20 years, and that's why he'll get in the Hall. But he'll never be mentioned with the greats in the game like Don Mattingly and Lou Gehrig.

Mattingly was a much better hitter, and much better defensively. Palmeiro never had a peak like Mattingly did.

so you're wrong about mattingly being better with the bat...let aloneMUCH better...as far as the glove, they are probably pretty similal, Raffy's GG is a joke, as you pointed out...but they play 1B, so who gives a crap about their defense.
