Default Did I overplay 88?

No reads, early in the session. I'm calling on the button for set value. I raise pretty often in this situation on the flop. Am I spewing here?

if this is standard i'd like to know. i think it's a fairly common situation and it could be a big leak for me if it's wrong.

Everytime you read this post without replying the poker gods allow a fish to hit his two outer on you.

I'm folding preflop, but would play the flop and turn the same way.

Definitely not standard. The best line in these situations is the WA/WB with position line, which goes call-call-call. This ONLY makes sense if it's a loose UTG raiser who may raise many hands. Otherwise, you're bad shape to a majority of his possible holdings and should fold.

As for your line, the only hand you could fold is A-high (which may still 3-bet). You'd like this hand to bluff every street.

This is not WA/WB.

WA/WB, by defintion, occurs when it is unlikely that hero would be outdrawn when he is ahead.

This is very much not the case, given that when hero is ahead, UTG likely has 6 outs.

Uhhh does this seem really bad to anyone else besides me?

I don't think you can consider 88 WA/WB. Especially with other players in.

You're folding after 2 cold-callers and you have the button?

I posted because I was unsure about the preflop fold. Since the micro-time I have been using the "5:1 on a preflop cold call with a PP"-rule. In this case I can agree calling with 88 could be done since I will win the pot UI every now and then. But my postion for winning UI is not great since I will rarely be able to isolate the PFR. OTOH I will be able to trap a lot of players by raising the PFR when I have hit a set. Still, calling 22 seems too loose. Should that be standard?
