If you can tolerate the risk then go for it. I think there is nothing wrong with trying to make the leap. Many other players will say wait until you know the game better, you might be on a lucky run, etc. But if you have the risk tolerance and can afford to lose your money and buy back in, then do it

Cheers,

I've taken these comments into account and I've decided to play 1/2 until I reach $800 (god I'm too impatient to reach 1200). I've hit $550 so things seem to be running smoothly. As to the swings once (if) I begin 2/4 i plan on falling back to 1/2 if I drop to $400.

I feel safe with this idea... any comments?

The 300BB rule (of 300BB+ for some of us) applies because none of us want to dig back in our pockets to refresh our bankrolls. If you are willing to take a shot with less that's fine. You'll just need to be prepared to rebuy and probably work your way up from the bottom again.

If you're planning on making a move up to the 2/4 game start datamining now before you make the move (I'm assuming that you're using PT - if you're not you should be!). It will really help your confidence having some info on the other players.

The fact that moving from 1/2 to 2/4 is even an issue shows you're not bonus whoring. This is the hourly off bonuswhores.com from Absolute Poker. Say you're pretty decent and pull 1BB hr. The #s are almost even!!! Put your red dress on!!!

$1-$2 Limit $5.04 $6.56
$2-$4 Limit $3.71 $4.91
