Default Blind defense with J9..

Attempt to defend the BB, was this line good or can it be improved?I also wondered about calling and waiting for the turn to raise. ty for the help. opponent is average for the limit.

in a Prima ten handed 0.50/1 game today I was dealt
J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] in the BB.

Folded to the MP3 who open raised. players fold and I called.

Flop was 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

I check he bet and I checkraised. he called.

Turn 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I bet and he raised. I called.

River 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I checked, he bet and I called.

I would fold the turn usually. I liked the line so far. Preflop is not something I usually do but probably should. Clearly depends on who MP3 is though.

I wanted to fold the turn too, but I figured I would have something almost close to the odds to draw for two pair or better. I thought it would be ok given the implied odds. River without improving should be a fold, but I had no much of a read and did not want to fold a top pair hand in a large pot.
Bad thinking ?

don't c/r the flop. bet into him. HU blind defense, this is a typical play from what i understand of TOP.

from there you have to have reads on how aggressive/passive he is if he calls and then reraises the turn. he might figure you for a flush draw as well.

most likely after betting into him on the flop, i'd call down almost regardless i think.

I would use the check call/check call/ check call line.
You can't be positive this is a steal attempt, and if villain is bluffing , you want to keep him bluffing and pay you off. If villain has a real hand , you lose the minimum this way.
