Default Rugby vs. NFL

Throughout my days on the planet, I've been involved in a few 'discussions' about the differences in these two sports

Here's my opinion:

NFL: relativly, it's more about power, strength, specialization, the hits are harder, the game is very tactical (execution is important)

Rugby: it's more about stamina, versitility, the hits are more dangerous, the game is less tactical (spatial awareness and spontaneity is important)

Both sports require talent

Anyone else care to add their view?

Default Re: Rugby vs. NFL

the reason for the hits being so big in american football is purely because of the pads. No one in their right mind would lead with their head if they didn't have a helmet on. When I played american football the pads did make me want to put some big hits on, its a transformation. THe pads also make you look bigger so you want to be as tough as the pads make you look
