My best bad beat ever (I won)
I was playing 1/2 200 max NL at the Monte Carlo the first night I got to Vegas. Now, I had just gotten right in my hotel room, so I wasnt feeling too smart when I was delt KK. I fired out 20 and got two callers, one was a lady with about 600 in front of her, I had 175 or so. The flop was:
T92 Rainbow. So I said that addictive phrase, ALL IN and the lady called, turning over T9, two pair. So I have two outs, right? Thats what I thought: Turn: Jack River: Jack Two pair KK JJ over two pair TT 99. I was embarrassed as I collected my chips. How bad did I play it? |

Re: My best bad beat ever (I won)
1. This belongs in SSNL.
2. Pre-flop raise is a bit excessive, but acceptable if you get callers. 3. She didn't have implied odds. 4. I am calling this without a read. |

2 kings, 2 deuces, a backdoor straight draw, and a running pair. Not just two outs.

Re: My best bad beat ever (I won)
You did not play it badly at all. You may have overbet the pot on the flop, but still not a terrible play. Many weak players will call your bet with QJ, AT, etc. It is also possible that a fairly strong player will interpret your overbet as a bluff, and call with those same hands. QQ or JJ also have a good chance of calling your bet.
If you bet $60 or so on the flop, T9 most likely reraises. Because you have only been at the table for a short time, you most likely do not have a read on the player, and thus you have a difficult decision as whether or not to fold or call. In terms of your outs, you actually have 5 outs on the flop - 2 kings, and 3 deuces. You will also pick up 3 more outs on turn...assuming the turn is not a T or 9. |

Re: My best bad beat ever (I won)
Not to pick nits, but her hand was two pair J's and T's - not T's and 9's. I've definitely been all-in in worse shape than that.
