Default Flopping a house and running into aggression

River: (18.25 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">CO bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">CO 3-bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero caps</font>, CO calls.

Final Pot: 26.25 BB

When I flop a boat I put him on the only hand that makes sense, trip jacks (he would have openraised with JJ) and I go all the way. Can anyone guess what he beat me with?

Should I have backed down?

I hate hands like this. You have a beautiful but dangerous flop. If they pair their kicker, they smack your boat. I think a lot of this depends on reads. If he limped with JJ, you are pretty dead, however he didn't open raise like he likes to do, so JJ is slim. J7 is a possibility, but would he play that in that position? The only hand that I would be somewhat wary of is J8s. Most fish consider that a suited connector, and play it from any position. Much more likely however, is that he had something like KJ,QJ, or maybe even TJ. I think you played it well.

He turned over J7. I feel pretty bad right now, and I'm stepping outside for a walk. The falling snow will cool me off.

I'd never stop betting this unless the forth J fell or the 8 paired on the river. If he has you beat, that's life. I wouldn't think twice about it.

Flop: (6.50 SB) A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">BB bets</font>, MP1 folds, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">BB 3-bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero caps</font>, BB calls.

Turn: (7.25 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">BB bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">BB 3-bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero caps</font>, BB calls.

River: (15.25 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">BB bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">BB 3-bets</font>, Hero calls.

That's how I saw it as well and I went for it.

It hurts like hell now, but it's getting better. I've already clawed back half the loss on a flush hand I just won.

We all have bad ones, but I just try to remember that you have nothing to feel bad about unless you played it wrong.

Here's a good example:

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (10 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is Button with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
UTG calls, <font color="#666666">3 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP2 raises</font>, MP3 calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero 3-bets</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, UTG calls, MP2 calls, MP3 calls.

Flop: (13.50 SB) K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font>
UTG checks, <font color="#CC3333">MP2 bets</font>, MP3 calls, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, UTG folds, <font color="#CC3333">MP2 3-bets</font>, MP3 folds, <font color="#CC3333">Hero caps</font>, MP2 calls.

Turn: (11.25 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">MP2 bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP2 3-bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero caps</font>, MP2 calls.

River: (19.25 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">MP2 bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP2 3-bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero caps thinking there is no way he has it</font>, MP2 calls.

Final Pot: 27.25 BB

Well he did, but I still took down 70 BB's tonight so it was easy to get over.

You played it perfect. I'm guessing he beat you with J4 but thems the breaks.

Only J7, J8, J4, JJ, and 88 can beat you here: do you know how rare it is one of them has it? You definitely CAN'T back down here, especially how many other trip hands would play it that way.

Nope. J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I think he played it pretty good really. I wouldn't have paid him off any were near as much if he had say check/called the flop. His flop 3-bet was loose, but if your going to go for it, just go all the way.
