I can't even make sense of what you just wrote, but I'm happy to explain the now completely ruined joke.

[/ QUOTE ]

FatBallz - It seems more of an immature prank than a joke.

[ QUOTE ]
You'll notice I was careless and even included the character "s" in the place of a number in one case. I saw that I did this, but left it there as a hint to the astute reader.

[/ QUOTE ]

I didn't really notice that. I have diatetes and consequently sometimes my eyesight is not very good. Blurry. Comes and goes. It's typical of diabetics.

I don't think I ever read the same as most other people. I kind of spot the whole paragraph, and then spot the next paragraph. I used to be a very fast reader with a very high level of comprehension. Trouble is I'm still used to reading that way and now I miss things. If you used an "s," I might have read it as a 2. At any rate, it didn't register.

[ QUOTE ]
If I had known that the fact that I ran these hands in 2dimes to get the proper formatting of the numbers before falsifying some entries was going to piss you off, I would have done it anyway

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm not sure why you'd want to go out of your way to piss me off, but whatever.

You're entirely wrong. I was not and am not pissed at all. As bright as you are, as clever as you are, you missed that. No way to convince you, I suppose, but it's the truth. Bothered, yes. Pissed no. I wouldn't write this response if I was pissed.

Why bothered? Because I've lost you - and that honestly makes me sad.

Why have I lost you? Because you now have no credibility. You may write what is correct, or you may just be messing with our minds.

[ QUOTE ]
This forum doesn't have a rule about plagarism or falsifying data or whatever. It's an F'ING internet forum!

[/ QUOTE ]

Right. So what? We who post here make this forum whatever it is. There are some damned fine posters on this forum.

[ QUOTE ]
I can tell you're pissed for whatever reason,

[/ QUOTE ]

That's simply not correct. Not at all correct.

[ QUOTE ]
but here's the deal. When someone asks a question with an answer so blindingly obvious, it's fun to make an ironic post giving the exact opposite opinion to the truth. *Any* astute reader can look at that argument and deduce that I am joking, unless they are a total moron,

[/ QUOTE ]

I take a different approach to answering questions. I think if a question seems like a dumb question, somebody is either being a pest, trying to get attention, or simply doesn't understand something well enough to ask an intelligent question about it.

Specifically with regard to 6789 hands, it was not immdeiately clear to me that they are very poor starting hands. I have a whole bunch of Omaha-8 books that imply you should play a hand if all four cards work together. In my humble opinion, that's baloney. But I think you have to study the game to know that.

At any rate, I just try to give straight responses to questions. That seems the best approach to me. (I taught for a while and then I supervised and evaluated instruction for a while so that I have some experience and have put some thought into the matter).

When I, myself, ask a question, I don't want somebody intentionally falsifying the answer so as to trick me or make fun of me.

Doing that, even if you leave an "s" as a clue for the astute reader is simply not ha, ha funny to the person who asks the question. Instead, whatever your intention, it's a mean thing to do. Play a trick on someone designed to deceive someone or make fun of someone is simply a nasty thing to do, whether you call it a joke or not.

I'm not mad. I'm not angry. I'm not pissed. I'm objective. I'm telling you straight.

Everybody is not as bright as you. Things may not always be as clear to others as they are to you. My responses on this forum are not entirely altruistic; I find that in writing responses to posts on this forum, the game of Omaha-8 becomes clearer to me too.

I learn here. We learn here. We share insights and we discuss and we learn. There's no room for playing a trick on someone and calling it a joke. That's just my opinion. As far as I know there are no rules against it. It goes under the heading of lack of consideration for others.

[ QUOTE ]
in which case any amount of advice will not prevent them from losing their life savings at the poker table.

[/ QUOTE ]

I hope nobody who comes in contact with me will lose their life's savings playing poker or doing anything. I have loved ones who depend on me and cannot imagine betting the farm on a poker game. To do so seems irresponsible to me. One should never bet more than one can afford to lose.

I could play at lower limits and still enjoy the game except there would be individuals who wouldn't be serious about it. I'm strictly an amateur. Doesn't seem very sporting to beat someone who is purely stupid or who doesn't care about winning.

[ QUOTE ]
A great way for this thread to go would have been other respected posters chiming in on the merits of 6789, perhaps with a few morons asking befuddled questions, until someone cracks and admits "this is a joke". Then we could all share a laugh, even those who were not in on the joke in the first place.

[/ QUOTE ]

You're right. That would have been better.

But I think when you pull a trick on someone, it doesn't always quite go the way you wanted it to go. If you're older than fourteen, and like to "joke" you must have been through this before. Wise up!

[ QUOTE ]
Instead, this just got painful.

[/ QUOTE ]

Sorry about that. Genuinely sorry. I'm not being sarcastic. It gives me no pleasure if I have caused you pain. None.

[ QUOTE ]
If we can't make a couple playful jabs at someone who posts about 6789, or asks how to read the winning low, then someone needs to add that to the R&R, b/c I don't see them there (not that I ever looked, but I have a hunch I'm right on this one).

[/ QUOTE ]

You can do whatever you want to do as far as I'm concerned. I have no animosity towards you. I'm not pissed. I am sad because I can't tell when you're serious and when you're "joking." Leaves you with no credibility in my eyes.

You evidently, if we are to believe you this time, wanted something else - but that's what you got. Or is this another "joke"?

Now that buzz and wintermute have both had their says I'd like to encourage them to continue their discussion in PM. Thanks for keeping it civil.

...now back to poker content, por favor.

For discussions of caning, guns, drugs, porno, star wars, etc, I'd like to direct your attention here.
