Re: please stop using ASAP incorrectly
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] You need to help me in my new movement... ASAL... As soon as logical. [/ QUOTE ] oh very nice [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, we like it. I mean... consider the following scenario: Boss: "Get me that report ASAP" You (getting report):"okay" Other Guy who you were performing CPR on: "I died" now, if he would have used "ASAL" instead, he could have finished CPR on that fine fellow and perhaps saved his life, but since it was possible for him to not perform CPR, poor sap died. ASAL - It saves lives. [/ QUOTE ] i'm really glad people are on the same page here. "Did you get that other thing done?" "No, you said do this asap" "Well i need that other thing done asap as well" |

Re: please stop using ASAP incorrectly
[ QUOTE ]
People need to take a class in effective email titles. There should be a test to be allowed to live. On it you should know that the saying is "I couldn't! give a crap less", that you tip at least 15%, and that fat chicks shouldnt wear spandex (or in their case, expandex). ugh. nice post, I got one of those earlier today. [/ QUOTE ] -Saying "I couldn't give a crap less" is preposterous. -Tipping 15% for substandard service should be generosity, not a prerequisite for continued existence. |

[/ QUOTE ] Um no, think about it. Saying I could give a crap less is preposterous, because it implies that you DO care about the subject, when that is opposite of the meaning of the true idiom. 15% is not generosity, it is understood. If the service is bad, 10%, if its good, the ceiling is the limit. Youve obviously never worked for tips. |

Um no, think about it. Saying I could give a crap less is preposterous, because it implies that you DO care about the subject, when that is opposite of the meaning of the true idiom. [/ QUOTE ] Saying "I could give a crap less" is slightly more preposterous than saying "I couldn't give a crap less." "I couldn't care less" has the advantage of being both logical and unridiculous-sounding. [ QUOTE ] 15% is not generosity, it is understood. If the service is bad, 10%, if its good, the ceiling is the limit. [/ QUOTE ] 15%+ is understood for decent service. For substandard service, I'll pay what I want. I like to have fun with it. E.g., if a waitress takes too long to bring the check, I'll wait until the time it's taking has crossed over into "way too long," then I'll start knocking off 1% every 30 seconds. Perfomance incentives. [ QUOTE ] Youve obviously never worked for tips. [/ QUOTE ] Hell no, tip-based jobs are for morons who don't realize how stingy people are. |
