enh, i'd bump to 17-20, b/c a) I like to be annoying and b) I think it's a bit more accurate for micro games.

Somewhat related: I'm about 15 for 5/10 and am working on loosening up a bit b/c I think I should be around 16/17/18.

22% is perfectly fine in a 2/4 game. You're probably much tighter than most of your opponents, and because they are constantly calling preflop, hands that would otherwise be unprofitable become profitable. Don't sweat it.

Good luck.

Thanks for all the great replies everyone. If your VPIP is 15% what hands do you play? I guess I'm not playing as tight as I thought. I also think I play too many small pairs..

Great post! I think I learned more from this one post alone than my last two weeks of lurking here.

So here's a followup question. How does suitedness play into this? It seems to be able to offset the domination aspect slightly? So for example, agaist a raise, SSHE suggests to muck AQo but cold call with AQs.

I wasn't sure about this, because if you hit your ace, when do you do then? Hope your backdoor flush saves you? Hope that you hit a Q? Or am I fearing the monsters under the bed?

How does this change with respect to passive/aggressive limpers?

Small pairs like multiway pots to try and flop a set... so usually you end up playing them in LP when there are enough limpers. The exception is if you usually end up in family pots (like the live games here in Northern California!) then you can play them from any position.

In a limp fest there are many hands that can be played profitably. Suited connectors and pocket pairs come to mind. If it's passive as well then I start to add 1-gapped suited connectors.

Anyone disagree?

I am at 13.9 right now after 20,000 hands and making just under 5BB/100 hands at 2/4.

I understand the small sample size, but I am also playing 4 at a time and I hardly ever get caught with questionable post flop decisions. I think that at this level, especially on the nights and weekends on Party where I play, this is fine.

However, I think this number changes for everyone in different styles. If you can get away with a 23% after 50,000 hands, then by all means go for it.

To get my VP$IP under 20, and I had a lot of trouble with this, I stoppped doing things like:

cold calling KQo in the cutoff after a raise and two callers.

Many people will disagree, but my win rates never been higher. I will play this suited however on a passive table, as I feel the extra 5% it gives is enough.

Also hands like J10s in early position. AJo in early position. even 10 10 in early position...out the window.

I no longer lose on those three hands like I was

My 2 cents
