Re: Sitcom based on Annie Duke canceled
A show has to actually get on the air before it can be cancelled.

Re: Sitcom based on Annie Duke canceled
My guess is that casting Janeane Garafalo was a REAL BAD IDEA. If you are going to cast a sitcom, it helps not to have a star that the red states would prefer to run out of town. Can she be funny? Yes. Has she hacked off half the population. Ooops.

I'd make the simple bet that the pilot was simply bad.

I agree. TV is desperate for any type of show. If it has ANY potential at all they give it a shot. This thing mus have been rancid....

Re: Sitcom based on Annie Duke canceled
I have to disagree. any show about poker is good for the game. more fish, more money for the rest of us. While this show didn't make the fall schedule, I know for sure others are in development. Mason, please tell us the reason you think this was a bad idea. A show about a poker-playing mother seems to have all the elements to make america watch. I don't know if you all are against Annie getting pub - I can understand that, she's annoying - but the basis of the show was good.

This was a great reason alone to cancel the show, what a terrible pick to star in it. [/ QUOTE ] Actually I think if you're going to produce an Annie Duke sitcom, Janeane Garofalo is pretty damn spot-on as far as her on-screen representation goes. Unfortunately, the casting wouldn't be the big problem with that project - I reckon that the major issue would be the fact that the idea itself sucks a racehorse's musty....well, you get the idea. Or at least the profanity filter does. |
