Default I thought this section was for discussion on the Magazine articles!

Can we get a little house cleaning here? A lot of these posts are not at all realted to a magazine article.

True, but didn't it need to be said?

Sorry, could resist stating the obvious.

This is the worst forum for off-topic posts, and it is annoying. I'm guessing that these people are clueless, and fall into two catagories. One group, all newbies, start at the top of the page, see the word Forum for the first time, and think this is THE 2+2 forum. I think that these will eventually figure it out, with a little educating.

The second group, who have usually been here for a while, are just plain clueless and always will be. I think they are reading something here, it reminds them of a bad beat they had last week or something equally pointless, so they just post it.

Possible solutions:

1. On other boards I frequent, a moderator will move and/or lock an off-topic thread.

2. I think it might help to have a sticky at the top of this forum titled "Read this before posting" explaining what this forum is about.

3. Some people just need to be trained (naming no names). Like the old joke about how do you train a mule. First you hit him over the head with a 2x4 to get his attention.

Agreed. Posts here should be about articles or the magazine in general. I wish a moderator would take up that mandate.

Not to name names, but there are forums I avoid because the signal-to-noise ratio is so low. I'd hate for this one to join the list when it would be so easy to enforce order.

Solution 4: On some other websites with a forum dedicated to "main page content", only moderators can post new topics, and they always post one for every new article so people wanting to discuss the articles just find the appropriate article and reply.
