Default No pot control in this one

Here is a hand I played and my thoughts. Let me know if I am a moron:

5/10 NL 8-handed.
Aggressive opponent ($1300) opens in MP to $40. I ($950) call on the button with 66. Blinds fold.

Flop ($95): K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
Opponent bets $80, I make it $240....

My thoughts. Opponent is the type to fire the second barrel here a lot if I just call. I might have the best hand and can stop him from hitting an overcard to my 6's. There are a lot of broadway gutshots he could have. He is not a lunatic and might fold hands like 99.

Stupid? Building a big pot with a marginal hand is horrible? Obvious I am weak because I probably might actually play a stronger hand more slowly?

Thanks,
tpir

You are not building a pot here, you are hoping to take it down.

I'd say you need a pretty good reason to deviate from the standard bet/fold or check/fold here. I don't think you've got one.

i like this play alot better with just one broadway card.

make it a Q82 type flop and I like it alot.

as it is, i think you prob. get called more than you would like to here.

OK, the problem is that I would never play a hand like AQ like this. I am exploitable if someone catches on. It's either weakness or a monster.....and monsters are hard to come by. That can't be good.

Well, against an opponent you know will make a continuation bet most of the of the time in this situation whether he misses or not, and you know he will lay down stuff like AT and 99 to your bet, this is a worthwhile move. If not, it's not.

This sounds like a problem....I'm not experienced enough to tell you exactly what to do to avoid being predictable, but taking different lines with standard, mundane hands is a good place to start I think....
