I'm much tighter than this and I'm at 10/20, that would explain my awful SB stats. Thanks.

[/ QUOTE ]

I've played 84k hands at 10/20 6max and I would not recommend these suggestions for 10/20. I learned that fairly quickly...

Yeah that's a little lower than I'd like to go, but even most Kx hands I'm mucking, I think hands like that I should be playing more.

How often are you guys with those better winrates going to showdown in the blinds? I ask because I play those hands out of the small blind and my stats are dismal...

"My SB is -0.05 and BB is -0.14. Thats are average stats so i think i had some to improve there...

At 5/10 i would complete with 1 limper 79o+, 96s+, 45s+,J8o+, Kxo,Axo, Q7o,. With 2+ limpers i would complete 64o+,any suited, any two broadway cards (excluding those i would raise)."

Simply en ough, I followed those suggestions and my winrate improved substantially.

Then you say

Very confusing, $10/$20, sb is 1/2 a bet, $5/$10 the sb is 3/5 of a bet.

So if more hands are profitable at $5/$10 then why not at $10/$20?

Personally, I was stuck at (.18) and (.8) for well over 100k hands when I started playing 5/10. After making one simple change my blinds went to (.14) and (.5) for the next 70k hands...

[/ QUOTE ]
In 70000 hands of 6-max you'll be the small blind about 14000 times assuming an average of five players dealt in. Obviously you are playing a lot of hands in SB so assume a standard deviation of 20 BB/100. 14000 hands is 140 x 100 hands. Sqrt(140) is approximately 12. Divide into 20 BB/100 and you get a standard deviation of 1.7 BB/100 for small blind play over your 70K sample.

Same discussion applies to the big blind. Your blind play win rates are virtually worthless.

First, I'll certainly agree that without simulation software, it's almost impossible to evaluate the EV of any particular hand in any particular position with any degree of certainty. Thus, winrate's by position are very difficult to evaluate without a huge number of overall hands.

With this said, I can only speak to my results and they certainly improved by specifically playing more hands from the SB. Dumb luck? Maybe. All I know is that myself, Peter_rus, Grisgra, and others have done very well in the blinds by incorporating this preflop strategy. Of course postflop play is important, but with any adequate postflop play I be MANY persons could greatly improve their winrate by taking this advice. Just something to think about.

I didn't play as well as Peter or Nate, but I still played MUCH better than 95% of the players in that game. Get the idea?
