Default Blind Play: A Word of Advice for 5/10 6max

From recent stat posts, it looks to me as though poor blind play is really holding back the winrate of many 2+2ers at 5/10 6max (probably as much or more than any other factor).

Personally, I was stuck at (.18) and (.8) for well over 100k hands when I started playing 5/10. After making one simple change my blinds went to (.14) and (.5) for the next 70k hands...

Read Peter_rus' posts on blind play in the archives and follow the hand guidelines he suggests. My winrate improved substantially b/c of his advice and I'm sure yours will too. I'd suggest dedicating 10k hands to his guidelines and see how it goes.

What statitistic do your numbers correspond to? VPIP? winrate? from the blinds specifically? are you referring to SB then BB respectively?

Also, do you have a link to Peter's specific post?

thanks,

Adam

yes i agree with this. blind defense makes up for a huge portion of your winrate. the difference between .05BB/h is .5BB/100. also i assume that your SB loss is .05 and not .5 :P. my current blind stats are .15/.04.

what was the simple change that you made? you left that out, or was that peter_rus's advice?

Unfortunately, I lost my DB with all 5/10 statistics b/c of spyware and the resulting reformatting of my harddrive.

My winrate after making the changes was 2.5, VPIP overall was 24. My VPIP from the sb was 38ish, and my BB folded to a steal was 48ish. And, yes, I'm referring to the SB and BB.

I don't have them at the moment, but I'll search when I have the chance if noone has found them by then.

The simplest change I made was to complete a ton of hands out of the sb. It seems sort of counterintuitive considering the blind structure, but it definitely worked.

I'll look for the links...

Ok guys...

Here is an old PM I received from Peter_rus when I asked him about his blind play.

"My SB is -0.05 and BB is -0.14. Thats are average stats so i think i had some to improve there...

At 5/10 i would complete with 1 limper 79o+, 96s+, 45s+,J8o+, Kxo,Axo, Q7o,. With 2+ limpers i would complete 64o+,any suited, any two broadway cards (excluding those i would raise)."

Simply enough, I followed those suggestions and my winrate improved substantially.

I'm much tighter than this and I'm at 10/20, that would explain my awful SB stats. Thanks.
