Let's see.... 150k hands of 3-6. I'll go with 2BB/100, so that would mean you made about $18,000.

Let me just say that the 150k 3/6 hands were all played between August and January. I was getting unemployment for a while before I really buckled down and "turned pro".

Remember that 8-tabling 3/6 for 2BB/100 = $60/hour. If someone could do that 40 hours/wk, they'd make $120k/year, plus a not unsubstantial amount of rakeback.

Did you ever take any shots at a higher level, or try to move up in levels?

If not, why? If you answered this already in other posts just post a snide remark and I'll quietly go in peace.

After moving from 2/4 to 3/6 at the end of July, I didn't take a shot because I never put in enough hours month to month to get into a comfort zone where I'd be willing to risk the money. Generally, when I had a very strong month I took the opportunity to slack (in hand count) the next month.

I'm going to put bison on 3.6bb/100. Anyone disagree?

Yeah, sorry, something's wrong here. It doesn't add up to an amount a mid-20s single guy in the bay area can comfortably live on. Survive on? Yes, certainly. But without any luxuries, indeed.

Now if you take away things a responsible person would be paying for like health insurance, auto insurance, and hypothetically reporting a little less than actual amounts to the big uncle, then okay, maybe. Certainly not a very glamorous life.

So...Bison, here's my question: During your life as a pro, your income was obviously not steady like us 9-5ers and thus you may have had a hard time with monthly budgeting. Did this pose any problems for expenses that absolutely had to be paid on time?

Two things:
1. Would you ever do it again?
2. Any regrets?

Bison,

I am curious if you could comment on how your interviews went when it came to what you had been doing? did you go into details of what life was like as a poker pro? How were the reactions from the employer?? this is really just an open-ended question on anything interesting in your interviews with the folks at Google...
