Default 40 80 bottom set

Villian in this hand is the strongest regular player in the game. I have posted my thinking preflop and flop. Turn and river it is just a matter of when to slow down.

Comments?

Online 40/80 Hold'em (7 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is BB with 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
<font color="#CC3333">UTG raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP1 3-bets</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, Button calls, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, Hero calls, <font color="#CC3333">UTG caps</font>, MP1 calls, Button calls, Hero calls.

Preflop: I think this is marginal between calling and folding.

Flop: (16.50 SB) A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font>
Hero checks, UTG checks, <font color="#CC3333">MP1 bets</font>, Button folds, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, UTG folds, <font color="#CC3333">MP1 3-bets</font>, Hero calls.

Flop: Great flop but I still don't want to slowplay it. A lot of hands have a 5-10% chance of beating me. I checkraise to drive the action.

When it comes back to me at 3 bets heads up, I call, planning to checkraise the turn.

Turn: (11.25 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">MP1 bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP1 3-bets</font>, Hero calls.

River: (17.25 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">MP1 bets</font>, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 19.25 BB

I cap the turn/bet the river. Other than that I like it.

I think you hit the brakes just a touch too fast. I'd probably cap the turn and lead the river, calling a raise. Your line might be best though, as AA (3 ways) and maybe 88 (3 ways) can beat you and play just like this, while AK (12 ways) may not always 3-bet the turn, so we have to discount it. Still, I think 1 more raise is right.

good luck.

I want one more person in before I make the preflop call, I don't think it is all that close, you need to make up around 5BB in implieds, and you can still lose with a set.
