Yeah, starting with 500BB seems a little excessive. I think they could have gotten away with starting at the 25/50 level and cut out that whole first hour. As they are, there is really no need to get involved with anything but premium hands for the first couple of hours.

hmmm, seems like a flawed strategy for a 500xBB starting stack, you want to see more hands, and be the one cracking noobs AA with 76s and the works. Also, AA is not such a powerful hand in the beginning with such a huge starting stack in the beginning, unless the action is preflop.
I woudlnt want to play a large pot without a set after the flop.

This is correct. If you arent in agreement with this you might want to read the thread started by D.S. on deep stack AA. I believe Paul P. made an interesting post there as well.

is the WSOP ME obscene then?

[/ QUOTE ]

Like a poster said, the WSOPME starts at 200BB and that's the deepest I've ever heard of a tourney starting. 2.5xDeepestStartingTourneyStack == obscene. I'm not complaining, in fact I love it, I just think if anything it's only an accident, they decided WE'LL START EVERYONE WITH 10K CHIPS and just sorta forgot about the blinds.

According to the moderator on Pokah (PokerRoom.com's own forum) it's not a mistake, and not an oversight, but if there are complaints they'll change the blind structure to Grand Tournament III.
Personally I think that it's great - since it's a two-day event why not use that fact by having huge starting stacks compared to the blinds and let the skill take its toll on the fish..?

You can't directly send money on Pokerroom as far as I know. I wish they'd change that, one time I wanted to transfer $2,000 from account to account and I got into a big a hassle cuz I just lost it in a HU cash game from one account to the another. Silly young naive me, doing a chip dump like a dip chump.

Anyway, I'm in the tournament too! GL all! And I love the blind structure, the first ever two-day online event, I'm glad they are making it special in that regard. And if it bothers you, go watch TV the first hour, you'll lose about 1% of your stack!
