Default 6.5: Make a play for it and hope?

The blinds just went up from 100/200 to 200/400. I'm lucky to get to see a flop, and lucky-ish to flop a pair. The pot is the same size as my stack, and the first player has checked. If I fold here I'm a long ways behind and need to double up. My thinking is that it could be right to push here and hope my pair of 5s are good. If I fold, I have 1145 and maybe a little fold equity, though someone is open-limping most hands. This is not a good flop for my hand at all, but I'm pretty desperate. Push here?

It depends on your read of MP, completely.

I think he'll probably call with any J, will probably call with something like A9, and I think he'll fold a straight draw.

Er, no, I mean what kind of range will he have to limp for 400 with only 2500 odd behind.. not what he will call with on the flop, though that is important as well.

Nor do I, but if he's been very active with raises, or hardly entered a pot, or generally isn't a donk (probably unlikely) then his range of hands changes things a fair bit.

SB does to a lesser extent but he could have any old crap.
