Greektown is even worse. The time charge is $6/half, $100 max buyin and I think you can't rebuy 'til you go broke. I don't know about that part though since I don't play it

In California it's odd. At the Bike they take $3 out of the pot right away if there is a flop and also $1 for the bad beat. I bet into a $15 pot at the $2-5NL, no one called and I got back my $15 plus $11 from the pot instead of $15 or $14!! I asked the floor and he said that's how they do it everywhere in California. I noticed that most of the dealers at Commerce did this too, but some raked a percentage.

The problem is, Detroit casinos don't give a damn. They don't care about poker. Greektown was the first to have a poker room, then Greektown added one during the poker boom. Both act like it's a burden to have poker there, from what I gather. I have only played at one of them, but this is what most people say. Generally the dealers are not that competant, and nobody really cares that much about the poker players, therefore they're not that likely to fix the problem. Moreover, they don't spread many games, although that doesn't affect me so much.

The phone-in excuse is how you know it's a cash-grab scam. The phone-ins have no expectation of an instant seat when they arrive, just that they'll have "been in line" while they travel.

I've talked to some of the detroit poker regulars about MCC, and I've been told I should try it but I keep blanching because of the extra rake (20% more! though technically just $1).

I won't stick up for either room and it's management, but at least I have met very little hassle when the limit games get to 7 players (that is, 7 stacks at the table, if an 8th stack is present but walking, it doesn't count) in getting the rake dropped to $3+$1 BBJ (which is decent).

I'm a creature of habit, which is why I stick with Greektown. I kill the 5/10, and to this point the increased rake at MCC isn't worth the non-smoking floor and the "buffet" vs. having to walk to the snack bar for a meal.

The Greektown baby NL game is a scam, but it's sadly still beatable even at a $100 max and $6/half hour time charge and not being able to rebuy until you bust out. MCC and Windsor are both better in this regard, because at least the max buyin is $200.

I have no idea what the poker room manager makes, but if it's $55,000 a year, I'd take his job and a 10% pay cut if they'd let me run it how I wanted.

If the players ask to break, they say "Lets give the call-ins another 1/2 hour, " before we break the game.

I understand why they don't want to break the game here. They know that if they break the game they will instantly get a bunch a of the phone in guys show up.

But what happens if the four players say "We are not going to play four handed."

That's the "theory", but in practice there could be 2-3 people on the list who won't show for 30 minutes. In that full down of full-table play, you might even have someone leave the game, making for an open seat when a phone-in shows up.

What's "frustrating" is that I'm better live (and what I think is really the case is that I'm better a) playing 1 table and b) in an environment that isn't my home office where there are fewer distractions), and can play higher so I can make as much or better earn (probably ~2 BB/hr at 5/10 live, which is ~5 BB/100. 3-tabling 2/4 online which is where I'm at now, I'd need to make ~2.6 BB/100 to be equal to my live rate in $$/hr). And honestly, given the co-mingling ot the player pool between 5/10 and 10/20, I could probably clear 1.5 BB/hr at 10/20, which is ~4 BB/100of 3-tabling 2/4).

The answer? Get together a bankroll for 10/20 and sack up and move to 3/6 at home.

Greektown is awful and the floor people just don't care. They're arrogant and it's just not a fun place. Espescially on Friday and Saturday when they have the club going and the music is so loud that it literally shakes the floor. I used to play the 10-25NL game when they had it on Fridays, but it was too much once the club got going.

At least at MC the bosses are competent and very nice.

W/ all that said I'm planning on going down there tonight
