Trolls post with the sole intention of obtaining a reaction from other posters. Usually they accomplish this by posting false, misleading or inflamatory remarks. They start and support arguments and are a general nuisance. Sometimes trolls are really well done and can actually be amusing, but in general they are a bad thing.

OK, OK, sorry, I couldn't help myself. I agree with what Pov said. And if anyone cares, apparently the fishing kind of "troll" which made its way into Internet terminology comes via Old French and Middle English, whereas the mythological one is Old Norse. |
