Default 88 on turn

5/10, 5 handed, just sat down.

Hero dealt 88 on button. Two calls, Hero raises, two folds. 3 to flop.

Flop Ah Jd 3d. Check, check, bet, fold, two to turn.

Turn Ac: check, check. I think the check may be a mistake. If I bet, I am folding to a raise, right?

River 7d: check, check. Having checked, I think I can bet/fold here. Do you bet if you bet the turn?

Please critique.

Bet/fold the turn. Given that you checked it, just check the river behind.

Yes, I think bet-fold the turn is the proper play.
