Default Should I have been more aggressive?

Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (10 handed) converter

UTG folds, UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 calls, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, MP3 calls, Hero calls, Button folds, SB folds, BB checks.

Flop: (4.50 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players)
BB checks, UTG+2 checks, MP3 checks, Hero checks.

Turn: (2.25 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 players)
BB checks, UTG+2 checks, MP3 checks, Hero checks.

River: (2.25 BB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players)
BB checks, UTG+2 checks, MP3 checks, Hero checks.

Final Pot: 2.25 BB

Should I have maybe done a bet on the river here? Was fairly new to table, not much of a read on anyone.

Ended up my pair was best hand.

First post (have lurked for a while), so either go easy or let me have it

Thx,
JB

This whole hand is fine. If your hand is the best hand, you can't expect to get too many people to call you with Q or J high here.

Does anyone bet the turn here? The board paired the single-suited flop and no one really likes their hand here. A big heart would've thrown something out here by now, wouldn't they? Plus our Hero is last to act, so if he encounters some resistance, he can easily ditch.

Or is this a case where the pot is simply too small to justify putting a bet out there?

This hand would be much more interesting had the pot been big on the flop...

Checking the flop in this small pot is fine IMO.

Thanx.. Not a very interesting hand, but most hands aren't very interesting.
